Wallet review
Zashi
Zashi is the ECC mobile wallet for shielded Zcash. It defaults to shielded (private) transactions and is the most straightforward way to hold ZEC with full privacy on a phone.

Strengths
- Shielded by default with no option to accidentally send transparent
- Clean, minimal interface designed for non-technical users
- Maintained by the core Zcash development team
Weaknesses
- ZEC only. No Monero, no Bitcoin, no multi-coin support
- No desktop version
- Relies on ECC lightwalletd servers for syncing
Privacy
All transactions use shielded addresses by default. Zashi connects to ECC-operated lightwalletd servers, which can see your IP address but cannot see your transaction amounts, recipients, or memo fields. For IP-level privacy, use a VPN.
Notes
Zashi replaced the older ECC mobile wallet in 2024. If you previously used the ECC wallet, Zashi can import your seed phrase. Zashi does not support transparent-only addresses, which means you cannot send ZEC to exchanges that only accept transparent deposits without using a separate wallet or the exchange's own deposit tool.
