Privacy coins in Germany
In Germany you can buy Zcash through EU-licensed exchanges, but Monero is no longer available on regulated platforms here. Germany is friendlier than most of Europe on crypto tax: hold for more than a year and the gain is tax-free, with a €1,000 exemption on short-term gains. The main thing to watch is the July 1, 2026 EU licensing deadline, which will narrow the list of exchanges still serving German users.

For ZEC buyers, expect the authorized exchange list to narrow through 2026 as firms complete CASP authorization; check your exchange's status before funding. Monero is not practically available through MiCA-regulated channels. The 12-month tax-free holding rule and €1,000 short-term exemption remain attractive for long-term German holders, but verify current treatment with a German tax advisor before any large 2026 disposition.
