In Italy you can buy Zcash through MiCA-licensed exchanges. Monero is not available on regulated Italian platforms. The big 2026 change is tax: the flat rate on crypto gains rose from 26% to 33% on January 1, 2026 under the Budget Law. Foreign holdings must still be reported on Quadro RW.

For ZEC buyers, expect the authorized exchange list to narrow through 2026 as firms complete CASP authorization; check your exchange's status before funding. Monero is not practically available through MiCA-regulated channels. The 2026 increase to a 33% flat rate makes Italy meaningfully harsher than it was; holdings on foreign exchanges must also be reported on Quadro RW. Confirm current annual thresholds with an Italian advisor before filing.
